Everything You Need to Know About Converting PNG to JPG
Screenshots taken on macOS, iOS, and Windows default to the PNG format to keep text razor-sharp. However, when you need to email multiple screenshots, upload an ID to a portal with a 200KB limit, or insert photos into a presentation, massive PNG files quickly become a burden.
When to Keep PNG vs. When to Convert to JPG
- Keep as PNG if the graphic is a company logo, app icon, or vector graphic that requires a transparent background to blend over colored website sections.
- Convert to JPG if the image is a photograph, real-world scene, product photo, or full-screen capture where reducing file weight is more important than transparent cutouts.
